On-Premises Installation

Overview  #

The On-Premises deployment option allows you to install and run Shift Left API securely within your own infrastructure. This method ensures full control over data, configurations, and integrations—ideal for enterprises with strict compliance or network policies. 

Installation Steps : #

1. Download the Installer Package :

• Log in to your Shift Left API Account. 

• Navigate to the Downloads section. 

• Select your OS (Windows, macOS, or Linux) and download the installer package. 

💡 Tip: Verify file integrity using the provided checksum before installation. 

2. Guided Setup Wizard :

Once you launch the installer, the Setup Wizard will guide you through each configuration step. 

1. Select Installation Path : 
   • Choose your preferred installation directory. 
   • Default paths are automatically suggested, but you can customize based on your environment structure.

2. Configure Database :
   • • Supported databases: PostgreSQL and MySQL. 
     • Provide the connection string, username, and password. 
     • The installer validates connectivity before proceeding.

3. Configure Environment Variables & Network Settings :
   • • • Define your server port, environment type (dev/test/prod), and log level. 
       • Optionally, set proxy or SSL configurations for secure communication. 

3. Start the Server : #

• After setup, click “Start Server” to initiate the service. 
• The installation tool will confirm successful startup and display the local service endpoint. 

4. Access the Dashboard :

• Open a browser and navigate to your local URL, for example: 
  http://localhost:8080 

• Log in using your credentials to access the full Shift Left API Dashboard. 

You’re now ready to begin automating your API testing workflows in your own environment.
