Sharing and Embedding Dashboards
Share a dashboard via a link (public, authenticated, or password-protected), embed a widget in another site with an iframe/JS snippet, or run a full-screen TV wall display.
Overview
You can surface dashboards outside the app in three ways: a shared link, an embedded widget, or a TV/wall display. Shareable dashboards are a paid capability (Professional and Enterprise). Explore the capability at shared dashboards.
Before you begin
- Navigation path: top navigation bar → Analytics → Dashboards tab. The dashboard toolbar carries the Customize, Share, Schedule, Embed, and TV Mode buttons.
- Sharing and embedding a live dashboard outside the app is a Professional/Enterprise capability.
- The dashboard you share, embed, or display reflects the persona, project, and time range currently selected in the toolbar.
Step 1 — Share a dashboard link
- In the dashboard toolbar, click Share. The Share Dashboard dialog opens.
- Configure the link:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Custom Title | Optional label for the shared view (e.g. Q1 Quality Report). |
| Access Type | Public (anyone with the link can view), Authenticated Users (only logged-in users), or Password Protected (requires a password). |
| Password | Shown only when Password Protected is chosen; required in that case. |
| Link Expiration | Never, 24 Hours, 7 Days, 30 Days, or 90 Days. |
| Show Branding | Toggle for the "Powered by Shift-Left Studio" footer. |
- Click Generate Link. The share URL appears in a Share link created! panel — click Copy.
- Manage links under Active Share Links at the bottom of the dialog, where each entry shows its title, access type, view count, and expiry. Click Revoke to disable a link.
Step 2 — Embed a widget in another site
- In the toolbar, click Embed. The Embed Widget dialog opens.
- Configure the embed:

|---|---|
| Persona | Which persona the widget belongs to; it filters the Widget list. |
| Widget | The specific widget to embed (options come from the selected persona). |
| Theme | Light, Dark, or Auto (System). |
| Width / Height | CSS sizes, e.g. 100% or 600px, and 400px. |
| Allowed Origins | Comma-separated list of sites permitted to embed it; blank means all origins. |
| Refresh Interval | 1 Minute, 5 Minutes, 10 Minutes, 30 Minutes, or 1 Hour. |
| Expiration | Never, 30 Days, 90 Days, or 1 Year. |
| Show Title / Show Branding | Checkboxes for the widget title and branding footer. |
| Border Radius | Corner rounding, e.g. 8px. |
- Click Generate Embed Code. Three tabs appear — iFrame, JavaScript, and Direct URL — each with a Copy button and a scaled-down live Preview.
- Paste the snippet into your site. To start over with different options, click Generate new embed code.
Step 3 — Run a TV / wall display
- In the toolbar, click TV Mode. The TV / Kiosk Mode dialog opens.
- Configure the rotation:

| Dashboards to rotate through | Check one or more personas (CIO, CTO, Head of Development, DevOps / SRE, Release Manager, QA Lead, Project Manager, Product Owner, Scrum Master, Developer, Tester). At least one must stay selected. |
| Projects to include | Check specific projects, or leave all unchecked to include every project. |
| Rotation Interval | 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 5 minutes. |
| Theme | Dark (recommended for TV) or Light. |
| Time Range | 7 Days, 14 Days, 30 Days, or 90 Days. |
- Click Start TV Mode. Studio opens the full-screen TV dashboard and attempts to enter fullscreen. On the display, use the keyboard controls: Space to pause/resume, Arrow keys to navigate, F for fullscreen, and Esc to exit fullscreen.
Troubleshooting / Notes
- "Password is required for password-protected shares" — choose a password before clicking Generate Link, or switch to Public/Authenticated access.
- Embed loads nothing on your site — confirm the embedding site is listed in Allowed Origins (or leave it blank to allow all).
- Fullscreen didn't start in TV Mode — the browser may block automatic fullscreen; press F on the TV display to enter it manually.
- The shared/embedded view looks wrong — it captures the persona, project, and time range that were selected when you generated it; regenerate after changing the toolbar selection.
